There was a river where we used to stay
And in the hot summer days we’d go down and play
We’d jump right in, as we’d laugh and shout
Then we’d dry ourselves and sneak back up to the house.
But then one day, when I was twelve
You found us out, and they said it was me
As they always did.
Oh mother, mother look what they’ve done
Can’t let you see what I have become
And now locked in my room I cry and cry
Just because little …

Small town, small dreams
Everything is exactly as it seems
All the time.
What’s your name?
Well how ’bout you
It is probably just the same.
My girl calls says call no more
Always knew she was a melodramatic whore
Just because I kissed her friend
Didn’t even like it
Her smell reminded me of a weekend, long ago
Of a time when I thought being human was waking
And nothing more.

Once there was a fool who wished
For nothing more than to be famous
To have some power over all
For millions to catch him if he was to fall
The fool, he soars up so high
But no matter how high he flies
The world look to the ground
For above there’s nothing to be found
The fool begins to shout and scream
But below they’re all away in dream
For from the ground so many more
And screams around the corner bore
And so the fool brings to the ground
A …

There is a man
Standing in the road
I see his face.
I see his face.
There is a man
In the road
And he is facing the wrong way.
There is a man in the road
Way outta town
And if he doesn’t turn round
He’ll be too late to make it
There is a man in the road
In the middle of the night
And if he doesn’t turn soon
He’ll start to think that it’s right
That it’s right.
I stop, and I say
Hey, you better turn around
But he smiles and keeps on …

I dream, and what it means to me
To be standing here
Somewhere in between
With my thoughts to myself
And to no one else
As I sing this song
Does it mean I never cry?
And as I feel these things
These human things, in a human way
But with less to say, though it kills me as it’s so
For the thought of you gets me through the day
A little cliched, but hey
So is everything.
I dream, and what it means to me
To be standing here
Somewhere in between
With my …

I’ve been in a weird mood today
I had some meeting and bills to pay
But quite frankly I don’t really care
I woke up this morning
Not feeling dead, just tired
And with less feeling in my head
Something was different
And I don’t really know what
I walked to work the usual way
Late fifteen minutes
But I didn’t hurry
It’s odd, I just didn’t seem to care
Walked in the door, someone said “good day”
I said hello, the usual way
And then the boss came in to ask why I …

High
Face in my mind
Why
Face in my mind
Try
Oh I try and remember
Your face in my mind
I get high
I get high
I get high
I get high
I feel low
I feel sick
I have to get high
Just to feel numb again
I get high
I get high
I get high
I get high
There was once
A face in my mind
And the highs of the hope
I would see it again
But now that face fades
And the edges blur
Why
Face in my mind
Why
Face in my mind

Speak to someone on the phone
Ask to meet you alone
Things start running through your head
You’d be better off dead
So I’ll just meet you tomorrow
Waiting in line to speak
To read your statement out to all
And when they call out your name
Have you got yourself to blame
Best read it out tomorrow
Bitten off more than you can chew
If only you’d thought it through
Don’t speak out of that swollen mouth
When you’re standing in the courtroom
When you’re bursting out with lies
Think of all who are …

In the middle of the night
Someone knocked upon my door
He said come, there’s much to talk about
So much you’ll never know
And so I follow him
To a place, where I’m unsure
And he shows me
What I need to know
But what it was, I’m not quite sure
And then the next night, same thing happens
Someone knocks upon my door
And they tell me things I need to know
What they were I’m not quite sure
And the same the next night, and the night after that
Still don’t …
